Heidi and Kurt

I joined Match.com a bit skeptical but feeling a strong urge to change my life in the new millenium.

After joining, I received a list of 500 matches. It was overwhelming, so I did what I usually do—went to the last page. About half way down the page I saw the ad “Lonely on Coast.”

Well, I live on the coast so that made me curious. When I looked at his picture, I felt like I already knew him. So I emailed him to look at my profile and told him if he was interested to email me back. He did the same day. We emailed back and forth for a while a couple of weeks.

Two weeks later we met. It would have been sooner, but there had been a landslide on the main highway between us that had blocked the road for the last two months. The only way to meet me took four hours.

We went to lunch and talked for several hours. He was so easy to be with, like an old friend I'd finally met again.

Two weeks later he came down to see me again—this time for Valentine's Day weekend. He's been here ever since! He proposed to me the day after he got here, February 13th, and we got married just 3 months later. Both of us think of “13” as being our lucky number.

I never had to renew my subscription with Match.com because I got lucky the first time!
