I was surfing the internet for research on India for a paper during the end of my freshman year at the University of Kansas. As I was going to different sites, this little box popped up (which I usually find totally annoying), but this time I clicked on it. It took me to Match.com.

Honestly, at first I thought how desperate do you have to be in order to find a date this way? But I started looking at profiles, and some of these guys looked great.

I started emailing different people, received positive responses and met some really nice people. Then I found one profile that looked like just the kind of guy I wanted to meet, although I thought he was a little old.

He said he was a military tank officer, which is what my Dad used to be. I emailed him, he called me about one week after that, I met him that night and we continued to see each other often.

I moved an hour and a half away to another school to be near him within 3 months. We were engaged in 6 months and married over a year after that. We've moved to Orlando, Florida, recently, where we both attend the University of Central Florida.

What was so fun about meeting people through the site is that we cut through the people we would not like and were able to meet the people that we would want to date. Even if people do not plan to meet a marriage partner online, it is a great way to meet fun friends or dates.
