I had been dating on and off since my divorce 3 years earlier and had stopped dating for a while to take a breather. That’s when my girlfriend mentioned that several of her friends had met wonderful people on Match.com.

My first reaction was, "no way," but several nights later I got curious and visited the website. I was impressed and decided to sign up for 6 months… what the heck?

I wrote a profile, no picture. By the next day, though, I had tons of emails in response to my profile. I went out on one date… no sparks. Then I decided to browse my matches and saw Elliott’s picture. I browsed some more but kept coming back to him. Hmmm… interesting. Maybe I should write… So I went for it!!

After my first email, lots of phone calls, many dates and even traveling together—after months, Elliot proposed. He sent me out for sushi, and I came home to find the spiral stairway to our ocean view roof deck covered with peach roses that matched the sunset.

As I slowly walked up the stairs, I found a "proposal poem" lining the stairway. At the top of the stairs, there were champagne, more roses and a ring. It was the most romantic evening I could ever hope for.

We married 10 months later at Caneel Bay in the US Virgin Islands at sunset. We had the water surrounding us on three sides. Together with close family and friends we pledged our life together with personal vows. Nothing could be more perfect. We are so in love, but we found the perfect "match" as soulmates, lovers and best friends. We could not be happier.
