1. Save me.
"She’s either got too many fish on the line or she’s an airhead if she asks you the same question over and over," says Ted from Chicago. "Either way, I’ll probably not respond."

Be sure to blind copy or save your responses so you can remember what you’ve already said. Make a folder for each prospect and review prior emails before sending another one.

2. Personal service.
“Emailing multiple guys is fine provided you personalize each one,” says Cal, a veteran online dater based in Seattle. “But be original — don’t send form letters. I thought one girl had written me something personal, but when my friend and I were comparing notes, I learned he’d gotten the exact same message from her. Needless to say, neither of us responded.”

Reference something that catches your eye in his profile — that will let him know you’re writing only to him.

3. Keep ‘em separated.
“I went out with a girl who clearly thought I was someone else,” recalls Joel from St. Louis. “Turns out she’d arranged to meet a couple of guys that day and got us mixed up. I laughed it off, but I have to admit it did count against her.”

Whatever you do, when it comes to meeting your online boys, be sure you know who’s who. Don’t forget to review your email folder prior to your meeting so you can pick some key points for your conversation.
